Hey everyone my name is Lin. I'm new to the boards so hello to everyone. I between Houston and Beaumont in Texas and am looking for a good dive shop in the area. I have been certified since 1987 but have not been diving for about 10 years Now my son 14 years old, has heard my tales of the awesomeness of an underwater experience and wants to learn to dive. Exciting for me because it gives me a great excuse for getting back in myself. I am going to take the open water course with him and would greatly appreciate any suggestions on local dive shops either in the houston or beaumont areas. Thanks and hope to see some of you underwater sometime in the future.

Lin I cant give any advice as I am FAR from Houston but none the less I did want to say welcome back to diving. I hope to hear great adventures from you and your son!

Go for it Lin, my daughter is back with me from her first year in Univeristy and has logged 8 dives since the beginning of June and is talking about moving on to do her Rescue and Dive Master.

It is great having somebody so keen and that inspires me to do even more diving ... it is great having a "home grown dive buddy" (quote from ScubaSam)

Also, welcome back to diving. I don't know your area but if you're in South Padre check out American Diving--expensive, but I did my one oil rig charter with them which was real good.

Welcome back! Houston has a number of dive shops and scuba clubs. Check out the Texas Swamp Divers Forum here on SB. As for Houston Clubs, there is CHUM and Bay Area Divers are probably the two most active.
