Hey everyone!
Been lurking here for a couple of months now, finally decided to sign up after all the great posts I've seen. I'm currently getting PADI OW certified with a few coworkers, but we're taking it slow to ensure we retain the information. I've already read through the manual word for word once, and I drag it with me everywhere so I can glance at it whenever I get a chance. I did the Discovery Scuba, and already did a classroom portion of the class. Doing pool dives this Thursday.
Anyway, while I have you guys here, I do have a quick question relating to the fitting of fins. In the manual (and various other posts found here
), it says the top edge of the foot cup should be at the point where your ankle meets the rest of your leg. I know it sounds easy, but I'm still much confused. Sport Chalet had a sale this past weekend (20% off most new Scuba Gear, and an additional 25% off already clearance items), and I figured then would be the best time to purchase the basic fins, boots, mask, and snorkel. The LDS (hope I'm using the acronym correctly) had a basic TUSA package, but they stressed that it's not required for us to purchase it while we get certified (they supply the rental gear that's needed).
Needless to say, I did purchase some Aqualungs boots as well as some Mares X-Stream fins (been eying these for weeks, but the $189.99 price was just not in my budget), but not until I tried different sizes on at the store. Maybe it's buyers remorse (even after saving close to 40 bucks on fins alone), but I'm having second doubts as to whether they're the right fit. I've attached photos of how they fit with the boots, and was hoping some of you could give me guidance as to whether they look correct.
