I just went out and bought part of my new gear. I'm a first itme owner :D. I can't wait till I can afford my BCD. Today I bought my Legend Reg, Legend Octo, and Suunto Vyper. My LDS is letting me test it out during one of their pool sections this week. I can't wait till I have the rest of the equipment to do some real dives. My BCD is going to be a Halcyon. I just need to pick out my SPG guage and I will be all set. Happy diving!

Great choices. Hope you enjoy the equipment.

You'll dive so much more often when you own the gear as each trip isn't a rational test of enjoyment vs. cost - "hmm....well that's $40+ and running back and forth to the shop just to get wet".

Instead it's just "let's go!!"

Congrats! The Legend is a great reg. I love mine. It is one of the best (if not THE best) breathing reg out there.

Buying gear can certainly be very expensive, but there is no way I'd still be diving if I hadn't started buying my own gear once I knew I liked the sport. For some people renting is fine. For me, I hated the hassle and never knowing what kind of quality I was going to get. With my own gear I can determine the quality of the gear and I determine how well it's maintained.

Enjoy!

I'm very excited, yesterday I was offered an internship in Boston, MA. Diving was really fun out there lastyear. I can't wait for some salt water diving this summer. If anyone comes out that way let me know I dive from New Jersey on up to Maine.
