I really think you'll be happy with that setup. Piston/diaphram refers to how the 1st stage regulates the air coming out of the tank. I don't remember the plus/minus's of each one though. Balanced means that as the air left in your tank decreases, the regulator adjusts to keep providing you air just as easily. So taking a breath when there's only 800 psi left in your tank will feel just like taking a breath when there's 1600. In an unbalanced reg you can notice increased breathing resistance when you get into lower psi's. Although I've gone to below 900 psi on an MK2 and not noticed a difference.
