I just recently received my drysuit back from www.drysuitrepair.com . One of the things i had done was to have my exhaust valve relocated from the shoulder to the forearm. I have been debating having it done for several months. I must say it was worth it as i much prefer it on my forearm than on my upper arm. It is so much easier to dump air and doesnt seem to get in the way at all.

They did a great job of patching the old hole. It is noticeable but looks professionally done and doesnt stick out like a sore thumb like i thought it would. I could easily glue a patch(anyone know of any good scuba patches about 3"-4" in diameter) over it and no one would ever notice but i dont see a need to do that.

Also for you bare drysuit owners i had a set of suspenders installed on my ATR HD for surface intervals. No more walking around trying to hold my drysuit up now. While i had it there i also had the pockets sewed on to prevent any chance of them peeling later on down the road. Over all i am happy with the work i had done and drysuitrepair.com did a great job :D

though it doesn't say scuba, the monterey bay aquarium patch is kinda cool. of course, there's the padi patches :D

Approximately how long was it before sending your suit off and getting it back?

Ill have to check out the monterey bay aquarium patch next time i go there. I have seen padi patches for sale all over ebay. The only problem with the padi patches is i cant decide what i want to be.....open water diver, advanced diver, rescue diver, divemaster, instructor, etc....so many to chose from and im not even certified through padi :D

Are you sitting down? :D

I sent my suit in by priority mail and had them send it back by UPS 3 day select. It took close to 5 weeks all together but they warned me they had about a 3 week turn around time once they recieved it. But i later found out that for an extra 50 bucks they will give you something like a 4 day turn around. I wish i would have known about that beforehand. So if your in a hurry that is something to check into. Me and my drysuit were apart way too long.....:D

...for those not aquainted with a culture steeped in bribery... but now you know why there is a 3 week turn around: those who pay the bribe move to the head of the line... and those who don't move further back.

I should clarify that i heard second hand from another member here about paying an extra 50 bucks for the faster turn around. I never thought about asking and just assumed i would have to wait my turn. I would have been happy to bribe them to get my suit back quicker :D

For a measly $1000 they expedite the processing of your work visa - used to reduce a one month turnaround to a 1 day turnaround. Now the $1000 buys you a one month expedited turnaround, and there's another even higher fee for an expedited expedited turnaround.

Or so my immigration lawyer tells me.

I know what you mean. I'll be glad when my aussie wife gets her citizenship. I think dealing with INS has been one of the most frustrating experiences in my lifetime. Its one of those things where you ask four people the same question and receive four different answers back and none of them make any sense. No wonder INS is so screwed up.

with my fingers and toes crossed, for the timely return of my drysuit. I sent it off to Diving Concepts for new seals and a cuff dump. They indicated a turn around time of two weeks which would be Wednesday...we'll see.
