Interesting....thanks!

SP/LB is $42 plus $10 or so parking. This is $52, I believe Parking at Fisherman's Village is free, so that's a wash. Travel time is the same as the "slow boats" at Cat Express

Chris

if I believe the travel time they've posted, but it would be worth a test. I will go over there tomorrow at lunch, if possible, and see about the parking. There is also that tiny issue of an additional half hour or so of sleep vs. freeway...

I live in MDR - so the major prohibitive issues for me are the schedule (departure / arrival) and the length of time to get there - that would be assuming the prices are the same.

Its surely additional $ for me to schlep to LB or to San Pedro from MDR, but I have a commuter book with Cat Express - so the fares are discounted. Until Catalina Express buys out this concession, or they die of ineptitude (RIP, Catalina Cruises) I'll likely still schlep to LB or SP for the quicker channel crossing and cheaper Commuter fares.

Avalon, not Two Harbors. I admit I am a little miffed with the Express right now -- there has been a little confusion with our his/hers commuter books/accounts, and I felt they were a tad lacking on the customer service front. It is summer, though, so I know that quite a bit of the staff is new. Well, I will still go over and look at the parking.

:) Was gonna post but didn't : Wonder if they'll give the same crummy service that the Cat Express does?

What kind of problems are you (or anyone else) having? Maybe I'm just immune to these issues, or simply expect less from the cattleboat.

I miss the Express from the QM - parking was a lot easier then, but aside from that, I'm there a couple of times a month and just never have problems. I call ahead, I get a place, I show up on time, I sleep on the way there - dive, and reverse the process to get back.

They don't lose my reservations, they're not rude. I don't get it.

What the prob?

as clueless. I am planning to call them, though, to get my book problem resolved. I'm sure once it gets kicked past the ticket window level, it will go away quickly.

I did go over to Fisherman's Village and called today to verify. Parking at Fisherman's Village is $6 per day. They don't currently offer anything like the commuter book, but they are considering it. It might not work for me as I am hooked into the commuter book thing, but for someone who goes over to Avalon less frequently from the Westside, this might not be a bad of a deal...if it stays in business.

Mo2vation once bubbled...

Its surely additional $ for me to schlep to LB

Why don't you get on the 576 bus(get the transfer, it's conly $1.30) take that to N Hollywood, get on the Red Line to Metro Station, go up one level to the blue line, take that all the way to Long beach. From the trasit mall, it's only a 2 block walk to the LB Passport that should take you right over to the harbor.
2.5 hours TOPS! heh
