New York is most definetly NOT part of New England

Oops! Well, you know, New York is "UP THERE" near, um, Massachusetts, and since the rest of us think NY is part of New England, then... it is!:05:

Excluding New York, I really don't know of any "real" caves in the northeast of any size, let alone any caves in New England that contain any significant amount of water.

The only exception is Maine. There are sea caves in Maine. Many people are killed every year in sea caves by surging waves - getting slammed into the rock.

There are the arches off of kingsbeach in Newport follow the road to the end right before the private property line starts there is a turn off on the right (lock car up tight there). From what I been told it is about a 100 yards off the shoreand can bee seen from surface depth is about 30 to 40 feet and you can swim down enter and swim up through them. Sorry for not having the exact location though every time I tried to get to them while living there something came up (murpheys law). Depends where you live in new england but the instructor that told us about and showed us pics from his dives there is located at the riscubadepot store located in warwick RI. I also believe they are listed in the Dive RI books. If you have a boat accessiable it be easier to get to them.

old thread, but what I shame I was planning a trip home at some point and will dive the Andria Doria and a few other milesones on my list while I see the family, was hoping to see some quarrys or sump holes... hey if anyone is out there... message me if your in the boston area and know of any sumps or springs or what not (I've got cave training and logged about 100 hours of caves) h
