My husband and I are taking SCUBA lessons in anticipation of a cruise in the Caribbean (provided the islands are still there at the end of October! :11: ) We are experienced snorkelers and already had the snorkel equipment.

We live in Maine :moose: but don't anticipate doing much diving here... (We own a seafood market and don't have much time to do anything in the summer months except work! :banghead:

We just purchased the following SCUBA equipment:

Me:
3mm Henderson Shorty
Dacor Extremelle BC
Sherwood Oasis Reg
Aqualung Octo
Sherwood CNC-3

Him:
3mm Henderson Shorty
SeaQuest Pro QD+ BC
Sherwood Oasis Reg
Aqualung Octo
Sherwood CNC-3

Did we make the right choices? Does anyone else use the same equipment? Any comments would be appreciated!

Thanks!
Chrissie

I enjoy blowing bubbles no matter where I am! Its just a relaxing and enjoyable sport.

You'll see and hear alot about equipment. Bottom line for me...if you are comfortable with it, its well kept and you're comfortable with it, that's what matters most, especially for casual recreational diving. As for what you purchased, I don't see anything wrong with it, just make sure to check it all out BEFORE your trip.

The longer you dive, the more stuff you'll want. And you'll know you're hooked when you can't drive by a dive shop when you're out of town and when you're in there, can't seem to leave without buying that nifty little thing you saw.

Welcome to the board from a fellow New Englander!

Can't comment on your equipment, as I'm not familiar with them, but I agree, if you're comfortable with it, that's what matters. Enjoy your diving!

Got $60 left? Please get a Safety Sausage each, a Storm Whistle each, and 4 weight belt keepers each. Even if you have an integrated BC, they'll come in very handy someday.
