PaScubaGirl70:Hi,
I am looking forward to going - but a bit nervous about first ocean dive, and I have never been out on a boat!!!
You need to know this about the Keys - the dive boats DO NOT send a dive master along with you unless you arrange for one in advance, at an extra cost. You get in the water with your buddy and you are expected to find your way back to the boat on your own (unless you are doing a drift dive).
If you have never dove in the ocean before, I recommend that you call the dive shops before your trip and find one that will send a dive master along with you.
Also, as others have said, be sure to take some seasickness medication. It can be choppy, and the conditions can change during the trip. I have had good success by taking some dramamine the night before the dive, more first thing in the morning, and another at least an hour before the dive. If you get seasick on the boat, it's too late to do anything, so be sure to take something at least an hour before the boat leaves.
The diving in Pennecamp park and Marathon is very nice. Have fun!
