That's my budget, and I need to buy one by the end of the month. I'd like to go Nitrox by next year, so want one with that option. Ease of display is a must. I'll be recreationally diving, multidives for 3-7 days most of the time, I think. Please advise! Thanks, Cyn

Couple of options:

1)purchase from your LDS. Not too familiar with the range of prices for nitrox computers, but the lowest uwatex (scubapro) nitrox computer (Pro Ultra) is listed at $500.

2)eBay always has deals. If you go this route, you can find Suunto Mosquitoes at around your price range. If possible (and you'll hear this a lot on this board) Suunto seems to be the computers of choice.

3)If you've decided that leisurepro is not all bad, you can scan their listings as well.

I don't have a whole lot of experience with the range of computers (I have a Mares Surveyor Nitrox myself) but I would probably lean towards Suunto, just from what I've seen around. Good luck!

For that price range I would have to say look at online sales. LP has some good ones in the $200 - $300 range. I own the Mares M1 and like it. They also have an OMS nitrox for about the same price.

I found a NiTek Dive Rite online for $321. They're discontinued but I think that's going to be my pick -- the buttons are supposed to be easier to use than the Uwatec. I rented a Suunto in Borneo and couldn't make heads nor tails of it. Doesn't work if you don't use it!

Is the NITEK the same as the OMS EANX. If so they sell it at LP for $237.

I think the Suunto Vyper is totally ez to use...$315 at LP.

Good luck!

Take a look at the Genesis React computer. Good piece of equipment at a very reasonable price. Good gauge...large numbers....not complicated....does the trick

at LP.

Roughly that price, does Nitrox, and is a nice computer. I dive the fancier Vytec (with AI pressure) and love it.

As a new guy, I'm still learning the abbreviations y'all use. For instance, what is LP (as a place to buy computers)?

Also, how does one put a message in a folder? I got the folders made, with help from admin, but I can't see how to get the messages I want to keep in the folders.

Thanks,
