Hi recman,
Welcome to the board; you'll find plenty of info and probably some buddies here. I am in W. KY and dive at Mermet all the time. I would be glad to get together with you sometime. I dive year-round (except maybe Jan. when Mermet is closed). Be sure to check the Midwest Muck Divers area of the board. Dives at Mermet and other sites within your driving range are often discussed. Again, welcome, enjoy. steve

Heya and welcome to the Board!!! Congrats on your recent certification ...wooohooo!!!
I think you'll be suprised how many divers never mind newbies tagging along, so never hesitate to ask. If your ever in my neck of the woods, you can count me in as a dive buddy!

Cheers,
Vickie
Thanks Vickie! I will be sure to take you up on your offer if I am ever in the area.

Happy diving!

Thanks Steve! I might be taking a dry suit class at Mermet middle of Dec. I am going to email Glen Faith today to see when he has an instructor available or if he has anyone else taking the class in Dec. I would like to get some recreational diving in while there as well. I am also planning to pay a visit to Bonne Terre mine, MO this winter. Any interest?

Happy diving!

No, I don't have any interest in doing Bonne Terre due to the cost/dive and the way the operation is run.
I will be diving at Mermet during Dec, but due to work and Christmas, 12/11 is the only POSSIBLE weekend day that I could make it. I do most of my diving during the week. Keep me in mind; I'm sure we'll hook up sooner or later. steve

Welcome to ScubaBoard... better late then never right??

Glad to have ya here! If you have any questions or problems, or you just want to chat, PM me!

Let me add my welcome too. In addition to Pearl Lake, Lake Michigan and Mermet Springs, don´t forget to check out Devil´s Lake, Redgranite Quarry and Lake Wazee, all not too darn far from you up here in Wisconsin. None are frozen yet, so you still have some time to check them out.

If you are ever planning any diving trips in your area I would appreciate being able to join in. Have been to Devils Lake as a non-diver before, a few years ago. In fact it was seeing two people diving there that planted the diving seed in my brain. It just took a while to sprout!

We visit Wisconsin pretty often. My wife graduated out of UW Madison.

Happy Diving!

Steve
