Hi all,

My name is Dina and I'm currently living in New Jersey (by way of LA, by way of NYC).
I just took my OW course in October (in preparation for a honeymoon scuba trip to Australia), and am doing my checkout dives this weekend in Dutch Springs. I'm very nervous, but also excited!

I thought I'd come join this forum as I'm also about to be a member of your ranks-and could use all of the last-minute pre-cert cramming I can get.

I look forward to seeing you all out in the water!

Hi Dina, welcome to the Board and be careful, diving at Dutch Springs can be addictive.

Come on over to the DNY (Dive New York) forum. Great bunch of crazies there from all around the metropolitan area. A lot of us will be at Dutch this weekend for the 2nd Annual DNY Turkey Fry.

Enjoy your OW cert dives and especially enjoy your honeymoon dives down under!

Welcome to Scubaboard, Dina.

Yes, what Harry has already posted. Pop into the Dive NY Forum and get to know us. Dive NY - ScubaBoard

Good luck with your check out dive this coming weekend. A bunch of us will be a Dutch Springs for our annual turkey fry event so stop by. We will be the LOUDEST group with the MOST food there.

You'll LOVE Australia, I did my Discover Scuba dive there and have been hooked since!

Hope to see you this weekend!

ANNUAL TURKEY FRY?!!?

Now I'm jealous that I'll be on the other end of the joint, freezing my butt off doing mask clears and emergency ascents while you guys enjoy some fried turkey. Sounds like fun!

Won't you get a break in between? Just pop over and say hi, we'll probably be there until they throw us out. :D

I have no idea what to expect, I've never even done one dive before!

But if we do, rest assured that I'll be following my nose to your party. Sounds like you guys are a friendly bunch!

If you get the time this weekend you should swing by. Good group and active divers. Welcome to the madness.

For your dives, it's important to relax and to continuously breathe, don't hold your breath. Do what you've been trained to do in your classroom and pool sessions.

I'm sure you'll do fine. :)

Welcome Dina! Looks like you are going to have awesome 60 degree days for your check out dives this weekend. Better that then the frost and sleet I did my AOW in @ Dutch. Good luck and always breathe.
