Hey SB guys and girls,

I'm from central Jersey, not too far from the coast. I'm getting certified at the YMCA in August so I figured I would introduce myself and get comfy here first. I've had a shallow water dive while on vacation in the tropics but that's the extend of my experience.

I'm finishing college so my budget's tight, but I'm putting money away for diving. It's not cheap but I think it's worth it.

I have a question for you guys: how many dives per year would I need to stay certified and ready?

Certified for what and ready for what?

-tell you a secret: call a dive boat and ask when you can get onto an inshore dive as a "bubble watcher". -make sure that you take something serious for seasickness about 6 hours before the dive. Cost, other than the patch, $0.

Watch everything that goes on around you and you will be ready...

-curious, what certifying agency?
