Welcome to the board. Most of my dives have been in the Monterey area too. The beach dives are great and the charters are a blast!

Dive safe and have fun

Aloha and welcome! I grew up in Sac untill fifth grade. I rember I80 as two lanes and I know the lady that had the dairy goat farm where Sunrise mall now stands. Man Im old! Moved to Placer then much later Nevada county. I stop by about once a year. Ever dive Lake Natomas? Always wanted to do that.

Wow!
Thank you everyone! It's great to be here and I'm already enjoying all the great posts. I had some real fun browsing through the Mistakes thread where people have chronicled stuff they've done that was less than bright. I haven't chalked up too many dives yet, but so far, I've tried to use my snorkel as a regulator on a few occasions (unsuccessfully), tried to dive Lovers Cove/Point the first time knowing nothing about it (wrong beach, wrong direction, wrong time of year, wrong tide, wrong everything), and got beaten by surge/surf at Breakwater of all places due to taking my fins off, pulling my mask around my neck, taking my reg out, and promptly getting dumped a** over teakettle by a wave. Thought I was going to drown in the two feet of water that little children were playing in!

Thank you again for the wonderful welcome!!!!!

Ishie

Yeah, and I remember pulling on my flex-hose snorkel to try to dump air from my BC! :lol2:

I have an ongoing problem rembering that just becouse Im happy underwater, dosen't mean I can dive without putting the reg in my mouth. I find myself at about ten feet and then look for air.

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

Glad you found us!

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.

Ishie,

Welcome to the wonderful world of Scuba and to Scuba Board.

As a fellow and Native Californian, I just wanted to take out a minute to say hello.

Have some great dives this Saturday, and keep us posted if anything interesting happens or of you experience anything special.

Ishie:
Hi there!

My name's Ishie, and I'm in Sacramento, CA. I got my Open Water cert in April and I'm hoping to eventually reach Dive Master. I've logged 17 dives so far, and I'm hoping to make it an even twenty this Saturday. All of those dives have been either at Breakwater Cove, Monterey or Lovers Point, Pacific Grove. Beautiful settings!!!! It's great to find this board.

Ishie

Welcome to scuba in California.

Being in Sacramento, you are about 1/2 way between all 3 of the major Northern Cal dive sites:

Monterey
Sonoma & Mendocino
Lake Tahoe

I hope you find a dive club in your area, and together you will get to travel at least monthly to the various 3 sites.

Those of us on this board from Northern Cal can answer any questions for you that you like.
