Heather, Welcome to Scubaboard and to Scuba diving.
Is the instructor that is teaching your class, I am assuming your instructor is affiliated with a dive shop or club know of any trips planned from your area to any of these locations. I think it would be great to meet some people and maybe do some practice quarry/lake dives then go with them on the trip. If you already know the other divers they are more likely to provide advice, tips etc....
