This may be a repeat, but since there seems to be a fair amount of interest regarding DIR on this board, I thought it was worth posting --
GUE (Global Underwater Explorers) has recently published its first three "DIR" manuals:
(1) Doing It Right: The Fundamentals of Better Diving -- introduces DIR concepts to the beginning and advanced open water diver.
(2) Getting It Clear: The Fundamentals of Technical Diving -- provides the foundation for all of GUE's advanced tech diving courses
(3) Beyond the Daylight Zone: The Fundamentals of Cave Diving -- provides the foundation for all of GUE's advanced cave diving courses..
I just received the "fundamentals" manual in the mail last night and although I haven't finished reading through the whole thing yet, at first glance it looks like a great resource for learning about the DIR philosophy, complete with pictures, discussions of techniques, gear configurations, etc., etc. -- very comprehensive and easy to read, and much more efficient than learning about DIR in dribs and drabs on the internet and from other divers.
You can order these manuals direct from GUE on their web site.
Enjoy!
