Need to get new dive computer. I mostly spearfish. Prefer a console since we have to dig in rocks sometimes to pull fish out, don't want it getting hung up or scratched up.
don't want anything complicated just simple. don't think I want air integrated. Prefer not to spend a lot.
Any brands I should stay away from?

Thank you

Suunto, maybe ScubaPro; too flaky for your likely diving. Weird algorithms....
MARES Puck Pro (for a console) is about as cheap as they come; on sale now as a discontinued model.

Scubapro???

This is what you need, you can get it in console or wrist. It has all you need and is reliable and customizable:

I had always thought scubapro was good? I was seriously considering the scubapro alladin one, I did however hear from an instructor that had them as for students and said they regularly had issues with them and not easy to use. He hadn't said that before when he had some used ones for sale so don't know if he was trying to sell what he has now?

How is the Mares algorithm any less weird?

Scubapro has MB and GF.

MB is fine for recreational diver.
My beef with MB is that it is unexplained magic. "Trust us, we are ScubaPro." No, thanks.
