Same here, I got mine at Target for $18 (don't have a Cosco). Finished it in about 5 hours of reading time, couldn't put the thing down except when I HAD to! Definitely recommended reading for divers as well as non-divers who like nonfiction adventure.

I haven't read "Last Dive" so I don't have that to compare it to.

Not sure if they will be re-playing it again, but I saw an hour long interview on CSPAN with the author yesterday. Got my copy of the book today. I already read The Last Dive. From the interview of the author, Shadow Divers focuses more on the men behind the dives. Should be an interesting read.

Just finished it (unfortunately I paid $26.95 at Barnes and Noble :bash: ) Excellent book, nicely woven between the actual search for answers, the divers lives, the U boat history and the lives of the actual submariners. That Chatterton is one gutsy mutha. Seems a little boring in his show, boy can appearances be deceiving!

my S/O has a birthday coming up next weekend, and he's always up for a good read. Amazon has already shipped, so it should make it here in time...

awwww... that's really nice of you!

I LOVE it when someone buys me books or music for my birthday!!! Much better than clothes that don't fit, or not my style. The Amazon wish list is a godsend!

Sorry, but you are in the wrong state and 10 years too young! Gee...

Anyway, it arrived today, and I opened it to wrap it --- he'll peek if I don't. One editorial comment, however, on the picture of John C. on his first wreck dive in 1983 in West Long Branch, NJ --- the borough did not and still does not touch the ocean, so that water in the background would have to be be Franklin Lake to be accurate. How do I know?
;)

lol... didn't mean anything by that... just that it was very thoughtful of you.

My new sis-in-law came into my favor by buying me a book on shipwrecks from Amazon. She's just recently my sis-in-law, 'cause she married my brother last weekend on Kauai! I couldn't make it, unfortunately... or I'd be posting about my diving there! :(

Anyways... she's nicer than my brother - who's never looked at my wish list. LOL

I'm about 3/4 through the book. It's pretty good. It does present a viewpoint about artifact recover I never considered.

I bought the book friday the 17th & finished it on saturday the 18th. Great book. Having already read the Last Dive, I was familiar with the story, but its always good to hear another point of view. Really enjoyed the personal stuff about Chatterton & Kohler. I have even more respect for the two of them now.
