Any good tips to prep a new mask? Ive done the toothpaste on the inside with an old mask. Worked allright. Anyone have other suggestions?

Not to sound green, but what's the real reason in prepping a mask? Can you just use fog gel and be safe or is something more abrasive required? My husband used a new mask a few months ago and had a devil of a time keeping it unfogged. Additionally, can the same procedures be used for a mask that claims to be "fog resistant" (for lack of the proper, mfg terminology)?

I found tootpastes tend to leave streaks if not rinsed completely, so I switched to a more liquidy "500psi". My buddy uses Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo (doesn't sting eyes if not rinsed out completely) and it works fine as well.
Dive safely.
