:wavey: Hiya Kirk!
To find a buddy, have a peek at singledivers.com. It's a good resource!

I'll second the suggestion to check out Deep South Divers. I'd also suggest looking at the Florida Conch Divers forum, as we have lots of divers in northern Florida, so you might be able to hook up with them if you go to Pensacola, the springs near Gainesville, or Jacksonville.

As far as for being on a vacation or somewhere exotic and needing to hook up with a buddy, there's nothing wrong with asking the divemaster if he/she would consider buddying with you, especially after you've had a little hiatus from diving. But BYOBuddy or not, self-rescue skills are of the utmost importance, especially on a tourist boat.

Welcome to the board!

Welcome to Scuba Board. It's great to have you back in the world of diving. About finding a buddy, you could just talk to people a little bit and ask to tag along with them, or ask someone here (I'm sure theres plenty willing) to go dive with you. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me!

Hope to see you around the board!
