I bought a 40D, Ikelite housing and Ikelite DS125 Strobe - sort of my dream setup. I thought I would pass my C5060, Ikelite housing and other DS125 on to my wife... wrong.
We just got back from a week at CoCo View in Roatan and my mistake had nothing to do with the equipment I bought but the idea that my wife would enjoy/use the C5060. She laughed at me the day the boxes came by UPS and she saw how big the rig was but once she got behind the controls of the 40D she was a gonner - and the idea that I had sole posession of the 40D was gone as well. I think the camera could have been as big as our Civic and if she could have gotten it in the water she would have been good to go.
I am so glad I read posts here and decided to move up to an SLR this time around. I was very tempted by the G9 but someone said in a thread here that they bit the bullet and bought and SLR and their only regret was that they didn't do it sooner. The pictures are packed with color and the 'no lag time' part is wonderful. My wife and I ended up taking turns... one dive each. She ended up with the new camera on a shark dive, shot ambient light and got a series of amazing shots off during the feeding frenzy.
Thank you Alcina, Pakman and Blackwood, et al for your earlier comments and help when I made my first post about the camera.
Well, you will see my C5060 and the Ikelite housing in the equipment section soon! I have to start saving pennies to get ME a 40D.
I posted a few pictures and will post more later.
