It was just a word of caution.

I use NiMH 2100's in both of my Sea & Sea strobes as well the two PClites mounted on top of the strobes. If there is no flooding, there's no danger! If you start to see bubbles coming out of your equipment, move it away from your face!

And Dee is right about Sea & Sea...I talked with a tech when I got these battery caps that have a pressure release valve and I asked if the pressure release would be fast enough when you are using NiMH? There was a very long pause. He then told me in very strong lanuage that I must not use them in the strobe. After a while he finally told me that the caps would in fact work.
