I'm curious to see if anyone that has will admit to it. :)

No, I'm curious what people will say. But I think it's so rare, I can't imagine you'll get too many more replies than other ones of speculation like I'm putting up here.

Go browse the diving medicine and decompression forums. We have whole threads on this very topic. There's tons of us "bent people" on scubaboard. ;)

Get a copy of the book, The Last Dive. There is quite a detailed and lengthy account by the author of his experience with being severely bent.

And no, I don't think getting bent gives anyone bragging rights, but rather, a chance to share their experience with others. A diver can do everything right and still end up getting bent. Not everything is known about DCS.

Does getting bent give you bragging rights?
No. It's not a badge of honor, and it's not something to be embarrassed about. It happens (it happened to me). Talking about it helps bring awareness to it's causes, helps break down the denial factor in other divers, and maybe helps prevent further DSI events.

I think we'd all be amazed at the percentage of ScubaBoard members who have had type I or II DCS, much more sub-clinical DCS.

informative..... thanks.

I've heard you can get it so bad that you can't dive again. Is that true?

Yep. Being bent is just another sport injury. Its not that much different than tearing up your knee playing hockey. If you play the game, sometimes you pay a price.
