I just wanted to let all those in the SoCal area know about netflix - it is an online dvd rental store - for $20 a month they send you up to 3 dvds at a time and when you are done watching them you return them in a prepaid envelope and they send you another - you keep 'em as long as you want, no late charges! Right now I think there is a free 2-week trial period. I'm not affiliated with them - just a convert evangelizing! I even know people who have TiVo *and* netflix - now that is hardcore couch-potatoing!

Here's the link: www.netflix.com

Is there any length to the $20/month "contract" or is it month-to-month? And what if you don't want to rent a DVD on a particular month?

Hi Mike - several of my friends in the SoCal area use it and love it - is it available in your area too? There is no "annual" contract so you can cancel any time. As for suspensions, I don't think they have one - you hang on to the dvds as long as you want and you may not be watching all the time - you always have just 3 so if you haven't watched what you have because you don't feel like it they won't send you new ones until you return the old ones

- I guess if I was going to stop for an extended period of time, say 2-3 months, I would cancel and then when I feel like resuming, sign up again. Otherwise they'd just keep charging the $20 p/ month.

Might be worth more investigation by me. Not sure if it's in my area, but since I'm close to Dallas, it would make sense that they would have it here.

I use it here in MN and love it except "Road to Eldarado" showed up this week and I got to wach it 6 times.:goofy:
