I am booked on the Pilot for the March 8th departure in Belize and was just wondering if other ScubaBoard visitors are also booked for this trip. I have been following the various threads and will try to keep an open mind and hope that some issues get resolved.

It would be nice to have a bit of a roll call to see how booked up this trip is. I will also be doing some diving on Caye Caulker the three days leading up to the sailing and then, after the cruise, additional diving from Ambergris Caye until the following Wednesday. It would be good to get to know potential dive buddies.

I wish I was going!

I'd bet if you call the office you could find out how many people are booked on the trip. Believe it or not there are a lot of divers who've never even heard of ScubaBoard, and no doubt some of them are on your trip! While you're at it, you could put in a request for your room assignment.... Upstairs is better than downstairs in terms of moisture from the AC, downstairs is quieter (when people walk or move chairs around on the sun deck you can hear it in the rooms below). Room 1 is largest, but being close to the galley, you might be awakened by the beginnings of breakfast prep (I wasn't, but it depends how light a sleeper you are). Room 1 is sometimes reserved for guests with physical disabilities due to its location and layout, but if not, you could get dibs.

Have a great time and tell us all about it when you get back!!

Just give them a call and they will tell you how many people are booked. The Belize itinerary is their most popular and Feb and Mar are usually busiest from what I was told.

I have been on this cruise a few times. The real trick in Belize is to stay shallow and go very slowly. By shallow I am talking about 45fsw and above... most divers won't do this off of any liveaboard's depth of mooring pins, but the results are worth it.

True enough, I have seen some big critters, including one very memorable 14' long Eel (we measured it) at 95fsw, but in the shallows we found Seahorses, Toadfish, Garden Eels, many varieties of tiny Crabs, Pipefish, huge jets of baby Squidlets, colorful juveniles of many, many kinds. More than a couple of snoozy Nurse Sharks.

I carry a (glass lensed) $1 magnifying glass and sometimes stretch these shallow excursions to 90+ minutes.

I have been on every liveaboard that works Belize. You're making a good choice.
