Hi guys, long-time lurker, first-time poster here. I'm leaving for Cabo San Lucas on April 9th for my honeymoon and plan to do quite a bit of diving while I'm there. I'm a cold water diver (8 years+/-) so I'm pretty drysuit savvy. I've been told early April water temps in Cabo are in the low to mid 60's, cresting to 70 at shallower depths. I don't really want to shlep my CF200 down there. So that just leaves the wetsuit option. I'm just not sure what thickness I should go for. I've got a line on an XCel 4/3 for a screaming deal at my LDS. I just wonder if this will be enough. I also have a skin or one of those old Oneill polartec deals for underneath a suit if the need arises. Any input would be most appreciated. Thanks kids...SC

I'd probably go with the 4/3 and then a 3 or 5mm hooded vest.

Call me a WWW, but there is no way I would get into 60 degree water with just a 4/3 on. If you're going to be doing repetitive diving, that is really going to zap your strength.......won't have any left for those special honeymoon activities

I would wear my Henderson Gold Core Semi Dry for that diving.

Will your CF 200 really take up more space than a wet suit?

I would use my Bare 7mm semi-dry, or my drysuit. The 4/3 is just too light, especially for repetative dives.
Hypothermia + honeymoon = disaster. :sappy:

Here's what I was thinking. I'm not overly cold sensitive, so I was going to wear a 2mm shorty under the 4/3. I thought perhaps this combo would keep my core nice and toasty and then I could throw in a hood if I needed to later. What're your thoughts?...SC

OK Clark,
You need to keep the boys warm
repetitive diving+ hypothermia= shrinkage

Get a warmer suit and keep your new bride smiling...........

Rent a 7mm one piece and take it with you. Use your hood and gloves.
