I am trying to find some information on New Burlington, Ohio. A diver friend of mine has been looking for information on this place because it is supposed to be a town under water?? Any of you ever heard of it?? I haven't but I would surely be interested in it if is so.

I've never heard of it either, but if you find out let me know...it sounds pretty cool!

A quick search, and I came up with New Burlington a book on the subject -- available both from Amazon and Chapters.

Should be able to help out.

Ohio and Indiana folks around here. Hopefully they will be along shortly with more info.

I haven't heard of it but I am interested in the replies.

never heard of it.....

I have heard of a town that was plowed into a river up north in OH b/c it was on fire, but I think it's name is St. Clair

back in the 70's there was a town that was flooded accidently when the Army Corp of Engineers released water from some dams in the area - around the Athens or Zanesville I believe.

I kind of remember my folks going on about it and driving by some communities that were very water sogged as a result.

I don't think it stayed that way permanently.

Would make one helluva dive site though.=-)

I remember reading in one of the dive magazines about a town that was left standing when they flooded some reservoir that people dive on. I don't remember which mag or which reservoir though.

I have not heard of a town in Ohio that was flooded but do know there is one in PA. The area is called Lake Raystown now and was formed when the Corp of Engineers created the man made lake. There is part of a town under the water and is divable. You can find it on the web.

I've heard that kind of story about Lake Cumberland, but that's clearly not Ohio. Anyway if you find it and decide to go check it out, give me buzz will ya?
