What are some of the choices I can start looking at when it comes to regulators for warm water reef diving?

Does the Octo usually come separate? Or do they come as a kit?

For warm water diving, most any regulator from the major brands will serve you very well for many years.... if I were looking at a NEW regulator today, I'd look very hard at the Edge/Hog line for very good "bang for the buck", and Zeagle.

You might also consider buying used regulators, and a good place to start looking would be the Marketplace section of this board.

Many brand new regulators are sold as a 1st stage / 2nd stage; you need to add an Octo and SPG. Some dealers and brands will sell "packages" (a "complete" regulator package that includes 1st stage, primary 2nd and octo, and SPG/depth gauge combo). Some dealers will sell other "dive packages" that also include BC, computer, etc.

If you look at packages, be sure they include the components you really want.... don't buy just because the "price is right", or you may end up having to buy twice when you discover one or more of the components was not really what you wanted or needed for the type of diving you enjoy.

Ask lots of questions, and do lots of research.

Best wishes.
