I will be in Cancun January 22 - January 26 and am looking for recommendations for good dive trips. I am a new diver, with only 7 dives since I was certified this summer. Any one with any great recommendations?

You may want to ask this question on the Cozumel board, also. Lots of folks on that board dive Coz and Cancun regularly. There's a Cancun Board but I don't know the addy to it. Someone on the Coz board can tell you. They won't mind!

Hi Kyle & Terry,
We'll be heading to Cancun this coming Friday (12/8). We are also new divers with about the same number of dives you have. We'll post a review of our trip in the travel forum when we return.
If anyone has any last minute recommendations for diving Cancun we'd love to hear it.

Depending on how much time you have - Cozumel is great. On the Cancun side, there are trips available right out of Cancun, out of Playa del Carmen and points south. For a truly interesting adventure, head south of Playa to the cenotes (dos ojos etc) - there you can take guided dives into caves that were prehistoric dry caves and so have plenty of speleothems..
For the snorkler there are wonderful lagoons at Xel Ha and further south at Akumal.

Try Isla Mujeres located six miles off Cancun. I dove the Manchones reef last summer. Lots of fish, some sea turtles, even saw a shark. Take the ferry from Puerto Juarez to Mujeres.to

Just wanted you to know Margo and I have returned from our Cancun vacation. We had a very good time and the diving in Cancun was neat! We didn't make it to Cozumel this trip, but we are planning a Cozumel vacation next year. We posted a review of our Cancun dives in this forum. Hope ya'll have a good time on your vacation.
