I`v been a divecon for a number of years.Started off to be an instructor, then choose another field.I would like to teaching again, but would like to make money at it also.I know there is money in it but how much.Do you have to work at a LDS.Are there territory rules.I mean do you have to join in with other instructors in your area, respecting their seniority?Any input is welcome.THANX

Well, since you use the term "divecon", I'm assuming that you're SSI. SSI instructors have to be affiliated with a dive shop. Other agencies don't impose that restriction.

As a NAUI instructor, I can teach through a shop or as an independent instructor (I do a bit of both, actually).

Making money at it is another story, though. I think the only way to make a small fortune in the dive biz is to start with a large fortune ...

Truthfully, your not going to get rich in this industry. those that I have know have a hard time doing it and being single, Could not image doing it supporting a family.

When I taught in a tropical location I got by, no one makes a lot of money at it and most can't pay their bills. Here on the mainland I won't bother as it's too cutthroat.
