Thick wetsuit, large steel tank, heavy weight belt, big bag of lobsters or scallops, and a very large sized person, on a deep dive to 100 ft. I have seen it.

Not everyone is average size, average SCR, and average gear.

[Note: I am not advocating steel tanks with wetsuits, but I have seen it.]
Wait a minute, whats wrong with the steel tank and wetsuits. I've been diving mainly steel, HP80.

I believe you get the picture. The individual I have in mind stands 6ft 6 inches. That is a lot of wetsuit on him.

Probably a big guy, but I still find it hard to believe he'd need that much lift. Regardless, the OP stated he was diving dry.

Guys! Don't get me wrong and i really appreciate your input on the issue of wighting and lift requirements, but its not the subject of the discussion.
The purpose of this discussion is much more fundamental: which equipment to go with. Is it Poseidon, OMS, or Deep Outdoors?
Size of the wing (32, 45, 40, 55 or whatever) is only consequential, because all three systems have these options wide open and these options will affect the cost only marginally. I mean, let's decide which system i should concentrate on and then i will finalyze the wing size with my TDI instructor ;) . Trust me, the guy is very good with Navy diving experience and about 25 years of tech diving and about 13 years of teaching TDI courses.
Thanks.
[I hope i don't come through as an arse-hole here i really do appreciate all the input. Thanks again]

Ok, but that's NOT what you asked in your poll. You asked which of three specific packages (all with huge singles wings) you should get. My answer is simple: none of them. My personal opinion is that you should save a bunch of money and either get the 30# or 35# singles set from DSS. Others here have suggested the same.

And can you swim it up from depth with no air in your BC, while holding stops? If so, then you really don't have a problem. For many people, though, this would be very difficult / impossible with a heavy steel tank and no backup lift (e.g. dry suit or lift bag).

Hmm yeah i've done it and do it. I actualy got certified with an HP80, and did simulated CESA twice with that same tank from 19 feet.

Oh man you guys are killing me i tell you! I really like that DO system. :14: Well anyway, thanks.

Lift is all relative guys. Depending on the type of diving, equipment slung, protection suit, etc.

I can tell you right now that in a freshwater pool with an aluminum plate, a full steel 119, and 3mil suit; a 30lb wing barely floats me on the surface, (water at eye level on my mask). A 36# wing would be better suited for that environment, unless I only used my alluminum tanks then 30# would be better.

In the ocean I take into consideration that saltwater is 2.5% lighter, but also calculate for the extra gear as well, (lights, reels, and tools and crowbars on occasion). Add 3 - 4 ft swells into the mix and I'm better off using a 40# - 45# wing. Looking at all of the choices out there, I decided to get the Oxychek wing and at the time they only came in 30# and 45# setups. So the decision was to buy one singles wing that would handle alluminum and steel tanks for me in differing conditions; 45# was the choice.

Minimilist in the group will always say less lift is better, but look at your diving needs as well. One size does not always fit all diving conditions.

Right, but at 19' your wetsuit has a ton of buoyancy, so of course you can swim it up (and did you first make sure you had NO air it your BC?). The questions is, could you swim it up with a total wing failure from depth (you need to check this for the max depth you'd be diving wet).

Halcyon Eclipse... w/ 30# wing.
I really like the MC storage pack for putting a SMB / liftbag.

I dive wet 7mm, and 2 pc 7mm suit without issue... and lp steel 108's.
My doubles wing is 40# lift (explorer) on the same plate.. double aluminum 80's.

FWIW... YMMV...
