Can I ask for some feedback on this setup? First time slinging a pony.

The pony is slung using an XS Scuba stage kit. "Stock", the top strap that goes around the valve is too long. Ive wrapped it and zipped tied it in place around the valve, so essentially the length of the top strap from valve to chestis only the length of the clip.

Ive shortened the lower strap as much as possible. However, as you can see in the first pic...when in a horizontal position, the pony hangs about 6" below my chest. Is this normal? Will it hang closer to me underwater. Im concerned about this not being very trim. All my other guages and hoses are ran as such that theres not much hanging when horizontal.

Does this still need adjustig or is this good? Should the pony be a little closer to the chest, or totally next to the d rings its clipped to?

I suggest getting shorter LPI and corrugated hoses to move your inflator above the pony. Also, replace the pull dump with a simple elbow to avoid inadvertent buoyancy loss.

I had a stage kit on my al40. I found like you that the bottle hangs down a little lower than I would like. I ended up keeping the boltsnaps off the kit and the metal strap and replacing the rest of the rigging with nylon line like most people do it. This makes it sit closer to my chest up top and then I looped the tail over the metal strap once to shorten it a little so it doesn't ride so high behind me when horizontal.

I followed this site. FKD - Deco Bottle Rigging
It's pretty easy to do and the poly line is easy to find at the hardware store.

Oh hell, now you're over here Pete?! There goes the neighborhood :D

Welcome to SB! :cool2: (This is STKR from CLSB)

that is the drawback of a jacket that never really was meant to do what you are asking it to do. As others have said, make your own sling, but shortening up everything.... you will be fine.....

My sidemount stage rigging might be helpful. I adjust my top clip so the gate rests behind the valve opening. I use a piece of bungie around the valve and through the gate so it sits close to the valve. This way you have some give/ room when attaching your top clip. The valve faces outward. I keep my bottom clip as short as possible. It sits nice and tight.

The bottle will never lay properly with a jacket BC.

But the 1st question is, Why? Why are you slinging what looks to be a 20 (or less) cuft bottle?
