I purchased the Transpac and a travel exp wing along with the Ritesource BC backup intergrated regulator to streamline my diving, but, the LP hose in which is used to connect the adapter is far too long and thus does not make it streamline in any way, it says on the diverite express website that any length hose will do as long as it is a LP regulator hose, well the smallest is 22' and when you add the adapter it comes to 24' which is useless, the hose sticks up far away from my wing and this can be a problem when entering any overhead envoirment, is there another hose or a custom size one that works and is the correct size for this, i find it hard to imagine that this was not looked at before they made it, there has got to be a hose that is around 16 to 18' that can have this adapter on it for the Octo, if not i will need to return it and go with a normal air inflator and purchase an extra reg for my Octo which is defeating my streamline wish, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks all.

Nevermind, this Octo is useless in my opinion, it is not long enough to begin with so it fits improper in ones mouth, then if you inflate your wing all the way and put the octo in your mouth (almost sideways) you cannot turn your head at all to the right without it pulling out of your mouth, very dangerous in an OOA situation, very bad design flaw for such a great company, i love DiveRite equipment but this is just terrible. Time to buy a real Octo and clip it off.

Hi black1,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry that you're frustrated with your new RiteSource Octo. It is a unique piece of gear, that in many applications works wonderfully. Whether you purchase a RiteSource or another brand of air-integrated octo, the issues you are having are part of having this type of system.

As for the long LP hose, that can be addressed with moving the port it is plugged into on your first stage and/or using zip ties or extra bungee to secure it along the corrugated RiteSource hose.

As for breathability, the integrated style is not as easy to use as a standard octo, however it is designed for an out of air situation, whereby you are quickly returning to the surface (hence your BCD is being deflated...not fully inflated) and other than potentially a 3min safety stop, you are at the surface quickly. Keeping this in mind, the comfort (or discomfort factor) is brief.

Granted, the an air-integrated octo is not for everyone. Another option if you wish to streamline your regs is to place your octo on a necklace around your neck and wear your primary regulator either as-is, or move it to a 40-inch hose and route it under your arm, using an RG1350 Right Angle Adapter for mouth comfort. You can see a picture of this set up if you look in the thumbnails pics of our regulator online (look at the last thumbnail on page 2).

I hope this information is somewhat helpful and I would be happy to answer more questions, look at pictures of your reg set up/dive kit or help in any way.

Best,
Kathleen

Thank you Kathleen, your always quick to respond and thats one of the many things i love about DiveRite, yes i understand it is about getting to the surface asap but even then it is a nerve racking thing even more if I would not be able to look at all to my right to see my wrist computer, divers, anchor line, etc, etc. It is a nice piece of equipment no doubt, buit very nicely and all but for my peace of mind i need to switch back and hang my octo around my neck, this will also come in handy for my deep wreck cert as well, thanks again for your time and have a good day.
