I need a recommendation on a good HD camcorder, because I don't wont upgrade later in the future. I would like to spend on it about $1100, I will use it for traveling, and for dives up to 120 feet., also I need housing and lights, but I would like that the whole set would be compact for the traveling

Thanks

there are numerous posts here in the past year discussing this so rather than repeat it again ... I recommend you take a little bit of time and read what we have all said, then come back with some more specific questions.

Thanks Robin, I am thinking canon HF S10, or Bonica Snapper Dive 1080P HDDV Digital Media Camcorder, but the most would like canon 5d mark ll but it's not for traveling. So I have two choices HF S10 or Bonica. I just don't know which one, Bonica is cheaper and small for traveling but HD quality can't match HF S10, and HF S10 it's to big (housing) ?

Since you want to use this for diving, I would recommend shopping for a housing first. Can be quite expensive and limit you as to the model of camera. If you chose the camera first, you may have a hard time getting a housing that you like or one at all. I've not shopped too much recently but my Light and Motion Industries with Sony SD camera a little outdated. So I too may be in the market.

I would love to put a Canon 5D MKII in a housing and take it for a whirl. But that is some serious dollars to spend not only in a camera, but a housing system that works well and will not leak and destroy it :ar15:

I am thinking on getting canon HF s10 and ikelite housing.?

the Ikelite housings are all basically the same size....
Here is a photo of me holding mine, with the lightrig and battery attached.

All the Ikelite housings weigh around 10-11 lbs above water and are slightly negative underwater. Adding the light rig adds a few more lbs topside only.

As for traveling, I take the arms off, and all housing components, with the exception of the camcorder itself, fit into a carryon case. The camcorder is put into a smaller camera bag which is also carried onto aircraft as a personal bag. There is room for the camcorder, its just that I prefer to put it in the other bag.

As far the Canon HF s10, I think that is an awesome camcorder.

Ikelite housings are solid performers. They don't have the bells and whistles of other housings, but $800 for the Canon HF s10 housing is tough to beat.

Robin, how is the light, the one that you have, it works good?
