I am in the market for new fins. I am split (pun intended) between 3 options:

  1. ScubaPro jets
  2. Xs scuba turtles
  3. Hollis F1
I am a swimmer, so leg strain is not a problem. I am looking for stiff fins.

Any recommendations?

I cannot speak for the first 2. I have two pairs of Hollis F1's. I absolutely love them. One pair is for cold water/larger boot, the other is for warm water/travel/smaller boot. I'm very happy with how easy it was for me to learn frog kicks, helicopter turns and back kicks with them. Sorry, but I cannot compare/contrast with the other ones. Still hope this helps.

I have f1s to help control floaty feet in a drysuit. In a thin wetsuit they are a bit too negative. I say this to illustrate that it depends on you, your configuration and other factors what is appropriate for you.

Btw the f1s are quite heavy for travel.

If you want stiff, negatively buoyant, powerful AND SUPER COMFORTABLE fins, check out the new Mares Power Plana. I come from Jets and shifted to the Mares Power Plana due to its Power and Comfort. The foot holes are contoured for a human foot vs a brick. The Bungee heel strap are awesome, super easy to put on and very secure vs typical steel spring heel strap. But the best is The Power and speed it gives you while pushing doubles with 2 deco bottles is almost 2x what my Jets gave me. Reverse back kicks is a breeze due to its high side walls. The distance traveled on One frog kick with the Mares is almost 2x further than what I'd get from Jets.

But be prepared. It's Heavy. It's very negatively buoyant. It's stiff. And It requires very strong legs to get the most out of it. Highly suitable for Tec Diving.

Why have you not considered Dive Rite fins? Super stiff. I used them to bash walnuts. :dork2:
