Hello,

I would buy the epson photo 960 if you's doing up to 8x10's. if you want 11x14's then get the epson photo 1280. Epson makes the best printers for photo's on the market.

stay away from the (cannon) I have more of them in shop than I would like to count next on list is (lex-mark) then Epsion, then HP the two most reliable for 8 X10's are the Epsom and HP . I think HP gives better quality than the Epsion but both are good at to be honest it hard to tell which one is better, get a high quality one and it will last you years as long as you take care of it and use it weekly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone every printed the same picture out on these different printers and been able to compare like to like??

When one looks at a picture that was printed by an inkjet with nothing to compare it to, for the most part, they all come out looking good ....I know the 8x10's that I have done look photographic quality with excellent color range and superb clarity....and that being printed on an old dinosaur (3years old)

I will say that the Epson 1280 has had my attention though....

I have thats why I say the photo-shop printer by Hp like medal's 1100 and above excellent and the epsons do ok but HP faster and to be honest I think they are a better machine .
and to be honest I also recommended the Epson 1280 .

I have to go with medic13 on this one. I have yet to print any underwater pictures, but for those "above water" photos, the HP printers are great. Good thing about the HP's is that when you get a new cartridge you get a new print head. The cart. is a little more expensive, but it evens out in the long run w/the cost of replacing the head on another printer.

IMHO HP's are very reliable printers and print great quality for their price range.

Hello,

I have the 890, it's a great unit. Wish it would do 11x14 tho. If I was to buy another printer today it would be the 1280. FWIW the 890 and the 1280 uses the exact same technology, one is a wide carriage and the other isn't.

I also have some of my underwater images on display that was printed with my 890.
