Handy if underweighted on boat and get in water, someone can hand them to you and you clip them on. also, can be put on for surface and clipped to anchor line so you don't have to push so much air through water on the bottom, (less inflation needed on bottom once suit compresses) I'll probably get flamed for this but who cares.

You must be severely overweighted and bogged down to even consider clipping weights off to the line while you dive. You need to also consider what would happen if you had to end your dive somewhere other than the line or make a blue water ascent. If you have clipped off the weight you require to descend, that is also the weight plus more that you would need to do your safety stop and ascend in a controlled manner. It is not a good idea to remove the weight you need to compensate for your exposure protection, regardless of how little you need at depth. Instead, you should be correctly weighted, and this should not be uncomfortable at depth.
