I heard a talk by Tim O'Leary on the new tables at Boston Sea Rovers last March. IMO I dont expect too many divers will be interested in them.
The no deco table was extremely simplified and idiot proof. Just a single table with 6 columns. Col 1 max depth of the 1st dive, Col 2 no deco time. From memory, if you dive to 100 ft you have a 20 minute limit. Then you must do a 1 hour minimum surface interval. The max depth of the second dive is in Col 3 and the no deco limit in Col 4. From memory if the first dive was to 100 ft the max depth for dive two was 65 ft. Then another 1 hour minimum surface interval. Col 5 is the max depth for the 3rd dive, all 3rd dives had a limit of 30 ft regardless of the depth of the previous dives. Thats it, three dives and youre done for the day. Nothing to calculate, the max depth of your first dive sets the row you're on and you just follow it across.
NAUI points out that a major cause of tech diving accidents is a diver breathing the wrong stage reg at a depth deeper than its MOD. Their solution is to limit all dives to two mixes, backgas and 100% O2. The staged deco tables are cut on this basis.
