I have over the years 5 certifications through NAUI, from 1975 to about 1982 (Jr Scuba Diver, Scuba Diver, Sport Diver, Advanced and Dive Master).

You should register them with NAUI so that NAUI can keep the records electronically should you need replacements in the future.

Thanks NAUI for remembering me
Don't take it personally, LOTS of records were burned in a fire truck when NAUI was moving its headquarters office from CA to FL.

their records keeping is not so good
I had to take an Open Water Diver course after 30 years of diving so that I could get fills. Thanks NAUI.

LOTS of records were burned in a fire truck when NAUI was moving its headquarters office from CA to FL. What do you expect them to do here? Can you offer a more practical solution for something that happened almost 30 years ago? Since NAUI started to use electronic records, everything is there and no record is lost. Stop whining guys.

Strange , I have been with NAUI for 30+ years and using the above site found my advanced from 1984 only, Larry Digney #7367 my Instructor, that was not lost, became a NAUI instructor #13590 in 1991 or 90 [crossed over from PADI instructor] , I still have those cards [the NAUI cards].

I'm assuming the OP has no verification that she is certified to dive. Therefore it would be impossible to take an "advanced" course.

depends, if you do it with a dive shop that knows you and has seen the card prior, they don't have to "copy it" to register you for a con-ed class. NAUI also has the "Experienced diver" program which would qualify as well.

Thanks to EVERYONE for responding, making wonderful suggestions, and sharing your personal experiences. I would like to give a big shout out to Lena at NAUI who diligently took the time over the last few days to "find me" somewhere in the dusty buried files. Hooray...I should be able to get my card in time to do some diving in Mexico next month. And yes...I will make sure I have a digital copy of my card, as well as hard copies secured in a safety deposit box because there is no place more magical than under the sea!

glad it worked out! Lena has always been great!! Thankfully with the new digital cards being backed up this shouldn't happen again.

Hey. I'm not whining. I enjoyed the course. Sure was a lot different 30 years later!

Email NAUI HQ: nauihq@naui.org.
Send ALL the info you have, did this for a diver I trained in 1992, he said it could not be found, another check here:
Verify Certification | NAUI Worldwide. Dive Safety Through Education found him.
Is Pete Kelly still around and do you know his Instructor #?
The NAUI search there is clearly broken. I can't find myself. I CAN login to the same naui site and pull up all my naui certifications... Someone who is a NAUI instructor should probably report the broken search tool.

Well, I got my Nitrox certification from NAUI in 2002. How many truck fires did they have? Just one or they have them like, every 10 years?
