Welcome to the Green Diver Initiative!

Formed by the National Association of Underwater Instructors, (NAUI Worldwide) in association with the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF), the Green Diver Initiative (GDI) is an online community dedicated to the principles espoused in the Green Diver Pledge. GDI’s mission is “to promote individual initiative, and through its purposeful activity, safely preserve and conserve the quality of our aquatic environment.”

As the official diver training organization of Walt Disney World Resort Company, we also present the following programs in conjunction with DWCF in Florida, USA: Dolphins in Depth, Aqua Tours, Dive Quest (The Seas at Epcot) and the Adopt-a-Turtle Program (Walt Disney World Vero Beach Resort). Before, during and after these experiences, guests learn about how the DWCF is making a difference and are eligible to join the GDI.

Divers and non-divers alike often want to know how they can help in their communities when they see beautiful shorelines and aquatic vistas that can easily be imperiled. This is why the NAUI Green Diver Initiative started. It is intended to empower individuals who through their initiative discover how they can make a difference – no matter how seemingly insignificant. When shared with the community, the seemingly insignificant can add up to phenomenal impacts. Individual GDI members may be environmental activists or just beach walkers, but they share a common concern for the vitality of the aquatic world.

What the initiative is not is another large, non-profit organization, top heavy with administrative costs asking for your hard earned currency. While the organization is a non-profit, it is staffed by volunteers from the initiative who care to make a difference and any monies donated are invested in the community rather than spent on additional fund-raising efforts or executive salaries.

Accept the challenge and join the Green Diver Initiative now. Find out how others are making a difference and share your own discoveries – whether or not you are a certified diver. It is easy and FREE to join! Simply visit the Pledge page next and after you have agreed to the principles, you can create your personal profile, set-up your personal Green Diver web page, and using the tools you’ll find there, start tracking and sharing your initiatives today!
