Walter, How stupid of me!
1) I didn't know that eels burrowed ( Duh Garden Eels)
2) There was a large crowd around trying to get a look so I tooks shots and bugged out
3) The first picture, 15-20 sec, I took, see below, from further away had him in a reverse orientation.

Pretty incredible. I'm waiting to hear what the eel expert has to say. The Bay Islands always have some new for the fishwatcher!

The ReefNet Reef Fish DVD version has a pretty close drawing to this eel.

The drawing I found of the rope eel doesn't show the side-stripe this guy seems to have. Also, I couldn't match the head in the drawing.

Les Wilk's eel man says he thinks it is Aprognathodon platyventris (aka, stripe eel). However, this ID is not 100 percent due to the head.
If someone could get a closeup of a resident stripe eel in the Florida, I think this ID could be made and the resulting pictures (and expansion of habitat to Honduras) could be submitted to fishbase.
Anyone got a friend in Florida who knows where to find a stripe eel and has a macro lens?
