Hi all, I hope some of you can help with the following:

My wife and I are planning a trip to Asia in March 2007.
I'm a diver, she's not.

I've read great stories about the Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar, but almost all information concerns live-aboards from Thailand for 5 or more days.
  • Is it possible to make a shorter dive trip to the Mergui islands, and can it be done from Myanmar itself and how? What type of accommodation is available nearby?

If it's not possible without more than 2 days on a live-aboard, I am also interested in suggestions for alternative places I haven't been to (should not be too crowded, have a good beach, and have good diving, and be a good add-on to a 2 week trip - dived in Lombok/Gilis, Malaysia/Perhentian, Thailand/Ko Phi Phi, Philippines/Cebu & Bohol & El Nido). P.S. I'd love to see manta rays and/or possibly a whale shark ;-)
  • Which of the following (or others) would be good alternatives?
    - Iryan Jaya (Papua) , Indonesia?
    - Komodo island, Indonesia?
    - Ko Tao, Thailand?
    - Any other suggestions?
Any answers and/or suggestions much welcomed!
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.
