That's part of the reason I got it, I'm a Civil, and with the bike lot right there on N-S Dr. and Stadium I'd have to sleep in Weil to have a shorter commute

Actually the pic was taken outside of the seller's house back home in St. Augustine, it's a log home in case you can't tell. Oh, and the Nighthawk was one of 5 bikes they have, A '03 Goldwing, a Valk, '99 Sprinter and 1100 Shadow.

There are 2 types of Motorcycle Riders...

The One who rides a Harley, and the One Who Wish they rode a Harley...

I've ridden a Harley, went to a HONDA because I was tired of the the Harley "marking it's territory" in the garage. I don't get as tired riding the Honda, as it doesn't vibrate and shake my teeth loose. Sure, the Harley sounds good, but for me, that's where it ends. Give me the Goldwing if I need to be in the next state later today.....

Get over yourself....

I too found it a PITA to stop every hour for fuel and to tighten the light brackets on that old 883.

If I ever go back to riding, it will have to be on one of the new BMW K1200 series.

Too much work to ride anything much smaller if I am going across state.

So, Tom...I am with you brother.

There are also the guys who wish they rode a Hayabusa.

Chris,

We're closer than you think! My Goldwing is for sale when the snow melts, but my next one will be another BMW. I had a '83 R80RT for a lot of years, and am sorry every day that I sold it. So my next one will be a BMW twin. I haven't decided if to go to the new oilhead, or back to an old airhead, but there are still plenty of them around and I'll have one again in a couple years.

Unfortunately, first I need to buy a boat to dive off. I've had boats before and they are truly "a fiberglass lined hole in the water, into which you pour money". But a man has got to dive, and I'm ALREADY tired of walking across the sand flats at Higgins Lake to get to the wrecks.

Thanks for the support! See you at Gilboa soon!!!

Harleys got a bad rap for all of the above and anyone who knows pre-Evo Harleys, knows they deserve it but like a classic old car or a tired old dog they need more TLC than other models. Its not for everybody but if that bug bites you, it usually bites you hard.

By the way, the newer, Evolution engine Harleys are much more reliable and smoother to ride. They don't deserve the same bad rap as the older bikes. Oil spots from newer Evo Harleys are as rare as a Suzuki or Honda in a Teamsters garage! :cheeky:

To each his own but if i'm riding, its a Harley. The fact they are as close as it gets to "made in the USA" is an added bonus to me.

The made in the USA part is what makes me hate my Honda. As far as cars go I would have nothing else, but got into crotch rockets because of my idiot friends, now I'm and idiot too!!!!

My Goldwing is built in Marysville, OHIO, USA. Most of the parts are MADE in the good old USA. American Tires and Battery is a must. I was talking to a Harley Mechanic last year, and he said that a LOT of the parts for them are made in China, and in his opinion, my Honda had more US built parts than his Harley did.

Go figure...

So the real difference is...Honda is a Japanese Company, Harley is a US company, so don't overthink the USA part...

I agree with you on all that, (did you see the gold wing special I believe on spike TV) my problem is that a Foreign company is getting the profits from my money. The Hondas, IMHO, are far better than ANY bike manufacturer I have seen. The fit, finish, reliability etc. surpasses them all. I also have a GSXR 750 and it is a POS compared to my Honda. Its fast, but thats it, it does'nt run all that great. I wish Harley or someone would build a real sportbike. I always liked the v-rod and was looking around and saw the Rune. It makes the v-rod look as advanced as a tricycle. Someone needs to get their act together. As far as cars, I WILL always drive a Ford. I've had some of the crappiest looking cars, but they ran great. My dad and brother both work for Ford and the way I see it is my father put food on the table working for them and put me through school. I have to support them. Not to mention, he also is going to be getting a nice pension when he retires.
