I just wanted to share my first experience using a backplate and wing set-up, as well as a steel tank. I'm using an Oxycheq Extreme (40lb), OMS stainless steel backplate with an Oxycheq comfort harness, and I'm diving a steel HP119 filled to 3000psi. I dive a diving Concepts drysuit with a good fleece undergarment.

Let me just say that with my old setup i used 28lbs of lead in my Seaquest balance BC (integrated weights) with an aluminum 80 and my drysuit/undergarment.

With my new setup, I carry two 5lbs weights in 2 small pockets (dumpable) on the harness waistbelt. That's all I need. The SS backplate covers the other 6lbs needed. 16lbs total. WOW!!

My trim is outstanding and I am able to stay comfortable in my drysuit at 15ft with only 500psi in my tank!

Thanks for sharing! I am considering a very similar setup...

Do you use an STA? I am wondering if you can use the Oxycheq wing with oms plates without having to use an STA?!

How do you like the Oxycheq comfort harness? Is it easly adjustable and comfy? Was the assembly straight forward?

Thanks and have fun with your new setup!!

When I made the switch over it was like night and day. Good luck with your new rig. :D

I've posted some pics for you to see the roll control tabs on the back of the wing. Oxycheq provides these on certain wings to stabilize the tank without an STA. I don't use an STA and my steel HP119 was rock solid!
