My new ScubaPro Classic Plus had a small problem while I was diving my 6th dive last weekend. The tank strap came open because the plastic slide that holds the velcro down, thus causing the metal clamp to loosen and open. When this happened the metal D ring the clamp goes over flew off into the deep blue sea. All of this occurred when I took my giant stride into the deep. Luckily my buddy was alert and saw the tank strap off, we surfaced and got things back together, I did have to get another ring put on. My question is there any way I can secure the velcro down better? I don't feel like that plastic slide is much protection,it is loose and subject to fall off between dives.

This sounds very very odd. The plastic piece is virtually useless, mine broke nearly 100 dives ago and I haven't missed it.

You must have your BC strap on the wrong way! The velcro should be on the underside, against the tank. There is no way for it to come loose once the strap is fastened, it is locked against the tank.

Hello,

Perhaps the best solution is to wet the velcro before putting the tank on the BC.

Like Rcohn says, double check your strap lock mechanism to make sure it's on correctly. My wife had a similar problem when we first bought her Zeagle Zena BC. It would seem like the strap would lock down but when she would enter the water, the tank would start to come out. I checked the lock mechanism and it turned out that the dive shop threaded the strap through the lock incorrectly. I threaded it correctly(hers had little arrows on the side of the lock that showed which way to thread the strap) and it has worked fine ever since. I have never seen your make of BC up close so I don't know if it even has a similar type locking mechanism, but from what you describe, it just sounds to me like it might have something to do with how the strap is threaded through.
