this past weekend, i made my longest dive to date.

average depth 28', 68 minutes, finished dive with 400 PSI remaining (AL80)....

according to the SAC calculator i found, that works out to .55

sure is nice to be able to spend more than 20 minutes under water .. :D

Great.
Just keep diving and it'll likely get even better.
Rick :)

thats good to hear. have you been doing any cardio to improve your sac?

i run away from paper work, does that count? ;)

quit smoking cigarettes (2 packs a day)(although i do, still like my occasional cigar), ride bike on occasion.

Good work. Keeping your hands still and getting your weight/bouancy right does a lot to improve your SAC as does just getting comfortable in the water.

I know "it depends" but does anyone have a scale of what awsome, good, average, poor, hoover is?

"Good" on what scale? there are a few around here that have a SAC down in the low .20's ... that said I think the average most list is between .4-.7 and as you noted it can depend on a lot of things like conditions, physical size, fitness, in-water comfort etc..

As a "larger" guy I'm happy when I get mine below .35 on a relaxed dive, of course I have very nice conditions here ;) . In current or more strenuous dives it can go up as high as .6 But at least knowing this helps me plan and evaluate.

Aloha, Tim
