I took a few years of journalism in school. My Dad was disappointed when I didn't go into that field. Of course, he also thought I was crazy for diving.
It's so much easier today with digital cameras, Photoshop, word editing programs all on a home computer. I can write an article, which at less than 800 words takes no time at all and include photos that I would have taken whether I was publishing them or not and send it to the publisher instantly. It's not a paying gig but it's a great way to share our local diving with 57,000 subscribers who don't necessarily read Scubaboard. Plus, it's always fun to see your own work in print.
