Yesterday I rebuilt the last Dacor Extreme regulator I'm ever llkely to do. Our shop has finally used the last of the leftover kits on hand and we can get no more. It's kind of a shame, because Dacor made some really cool regs. I've never seen so many o-rings in one kit before. I'm glad I got to rebuild about five Extremes before we used up all the kits.

I imagine diving with an Extreme lets you leave about 4# of lead on the dock. Almost like using a steel tank instead of an aluminum one.

So long, Dacor. It's been a good ride.

I use one......as an example to students of one of the worst engineered regs ever built.
......great breathers though.

That reg drove the final nail in Dacor's coffin. Very heavy and needlessly complicated, it was a departure from their previous excellent regs. It won't be missed by divers, but that sexy first stage will make an excellent paperweight.

I still have mine in my bag. Havent dove it something like 5 years or so, now i never will. Served me well for 130-someodd dives.
