Never fails. Every single time I wear my hood! I have a henderson hyperstretch WITH the "flow hole" on top.... It fits great and is great at depth. BUT, as soon as we start to make our final ascent, that sucker fills up every time. I pull it down and squeeze the bubble out of my now cone shaped head and the second I take my hands off - INSTANT cone head. This ONLY happens during my ascent, NEVER on the bottom. What's going on here?

This is true, worked for me. I have an Akona hood that would annoying bubble up. I straightened out a hanger hook, heated it with a match, and poked a hole in the very top of my hood. Next dive, no problems. Matter of fact, we dove Gilboa Quarry and someone hang a mirror on the leftover mining equipment. I could see the bubbles escaping out of my hood.

The logical companion to a nail is a hammer.

But you really must remove the hood before attempting this:wink:

...or, you could just leave it as is, install a tiny dump valve with pull cord and use it as part of buoancy control. :D

I like the idea of installing a dump valve. I'll post pics when I'm done.

You say the hood already has a vent hole, but clearly, that hole isn't the highest point in the hood while you are ascending. In what position do you ascend? Answer that question, and you'll know what the highest point of the hood is while you are doing so, and can poke another hole there to exhaust the gas.

I ascend vertically most of the time. The flow hole is directly on top. For whatever reason, it isn't doing its job. I guess I'll just poke some holes in it with a hot nail......or install a dump valve
