Hello everyone, here looking for regulator tips for my Christmas present 🙂🎄🎁
After having a really bad experience with rented regulator malfunctions in my last dive trip in Komodo - to the point where I had to abort at Batu Bolong and book another expensive boat trip for another day with another dive center - I think I deserve a treat for this Xmas

I usually dive 20-25 days/ year and I have to travel for it, so I need a lightweight one.
I would need a DIN for my usual destinations, mostly Egypt and tropical places, it should work fine for up to 40m, perform well with Nitrox and be in the midrange from a price perspective. I would love to have a swivel 1st stage, a comfy mouthpiece for the 2nd stage, a simple SPG and a port for integrating air consumption with my computer.

I am hesitating now between Apeks XL4 OCEA , Oceanic Alpha 10 and Aqualung Legend Elite.
Found them on an European website and they have a nice 15% discount.. I am confused though because I cannot find the weight for the Aqualung, 1st and 2nd stage plus hoses, and I’m afraid is on the heavy side…

Any thoughts and advices?
What do you use and what do you love about it?

I’ve used the Legend Supreme for around 10 years. It’s a fine regulator. I dive mostly cold water (34-65 F). No problems with the regulator freezing.

Weights are listed on the AL website Diving Regulator | LEG3ND ELITE - Aqualung

1st Stage Weight in DIN 747 g
1st Stage Weight in Yoke 957 g
2nd Stage Weight 227 g

I've got the cheapest Palantec off Amazon and love it. Zero problems. I was about to buy a second one for my pony, but got word today that my expensive SEACs might actually get overhauled and back to my around New Years.

I have an Aqualung Legend LX and have used it for more than 10 years. I should probably admit at this time that I also have a very bad case of GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome, and my Legend Reg is pretty much the only piece of gear that I have not switched out in that time.

I highly recommend the Aqualung Legend reg. I think that you will be very happy with it.

Apeks is number one for me. I use the XTX 50 and travel with it all the time. I have the AL Legend Supreme but feel the Apeks breaths a little better. I also have an Oceanic but only use it in the pool and honestly that's the only place I will use it.

You might save yourself some money and get the AL Core Supreme (now called the Helix Pro). The first stage is very small, enviro sealed and has the ACD, since you are considering the Legend. The second stage shares most of the Legend but does not have an adjustment knob which I find for most recreational divers superfluous.

Apeks are fine regulators. Use them all the time for serious diving in cold conditions.

There's often some real bargains available on their "older" designs such as the DS4 and DST first stages with the ATX second stages. These are terrific regulators; great price and great performance. You simply don't need all the shiny-shiny (==expensive) new design regulators. Of course if you want them, then fill your boots.

I've about 10 sets of Apeks regs; thoroughly recommend them.

What about a Scubapro MK11/C370?
Especially if you can get your hands on the MK11 titanium. Mmmmmmm.... titanium.
